turminster Newton Dorset have decided on a 20.7% increase.

rian the council tax Sturminster Newton is already very high. Just how much per annum does this put on to the 'average band D'

he Sturminster Newton increase of 20.7% equates to 30.94. The new precept amounts for Band 'D' to 180.39 in 1993 this figure was 17.51 ar'nt we lucky.

his was the response I received to the question, "why is this horrendous increase required?
RESPONSE - With regard to your query relating to the increase in precept, It has been necessary for the budget to reflect a number of additional costs this year. Specifically:

Costs for equipment, infrastructure and maintenance

The significant rise in inflation to 3% has had to be incorporated into the budget

Staff costs have risen to reflect the changing profile of the team; this also includes a nationally predicted salary uplift (2%)

A harmonisation of terms and conditions applicable to all staff

The precept for the Town, based on the value of a Band D property will be 180.36 for 2018/19; this is a rise of 30.91 per property for the year or 59 pence per week.
