The man who gets paid 135k-a-year for not turning up to work finally faces sack

After 2,406 days of being paid 135k-a-year not to turn up to work, Caerphilly council's chief executive Anthony O'Sullivan finally faces the sack for being "grossly negligent"

During the last six-and-a-half years, Mr O'Sullivan has received nearly 900,000 in salary. In total, including legal costs and payments to two other officers who were given payouts, the cost has been estimated at between 4m and 6m.

onwy council spends 636,000 renting unused building

Quote:
More than 600,000 has been spent by a council renting an empty building that needs fixing after signing a 35-year lease.

Conwy council agreed a deal in 2016 to store gritters and bin lorries at Mochdre Commerce Park, near Colwyn Bay.

But it found the floor was not strong enough while fitting out the unit.

The council reached an agreement to stop paying rent in 2018 while it negotiated with the landlord to resolve the problems but that period has ended.

The authority is now once again paying rent with the cost now standing at 636,418.

Dispute cost Caerphilly council up to 4 million while 746 workers lost their jobs

Something needs to be done about the 'Untouchables' at the top of Welsh Councils as they appear in some cases to get away with too much ( as I know from personal experiences). In any other job where you fouled up or whatever you would be shown the door pronto but not those at the top of our Councils. Time this changed. However nothing will be done about it for a variety of reasons. It will be 'carry on regardless' (as usual) with the hard pressed public being affected and losing out on services etc, jobs lost and vast sums of money wasted.

Edit -I do note in this case however he is Appealing.
